In the era somewhere between the sexual revolution and the popular realization that indiscriminate sex can kill, a young David Mamet wrote a play about the sex lives of young, urban Midwesterners. Some 30 years later, the once-controversial Sexual Perversity in Chicago is being staged this month at the Alchemist Theatre on South Kinnickinnic Avenue. Ken Dillon stars as Dan, a white-collar Chicagoan in his late-20s who finds himself in a rocky romantic relationship with a woman named Deborah (Beth Lewinski). In frank sexual terms, Dan discusses his romantic difficulties with Bernard, a gruff gentleman played by Kirk Thomsen.

Sue Wilson is spot on about the media communication problem. Yes, she IS whining about failure to get the "liberal message" out, but it is a message that needs to get out, or we will slide down in to a stinking waste-pit of one CEO dictator treating all of us non-owners as "Human Resources" to be used or discarded at his discretion! This goes beyond broadcast media like TV and radio, this will also extend to the Internet, study up on "Net Neutrality". -- "Free Speech" is meaningless if you do not have "access"!

I like Sue's statement that "in the more conservative areas like Milwaukee there is a seething anger". Amazing that someone in Sacramento even cares about a beer-swilling, fashion out-dated, Laverne & Shirley town. Perhaps because of our recent ratings as "most segregated" for over 10 years. I still find this segregation fact amazing when Milwaukee itself ranks only 42nd with regards to "blackness" in the US. Perhaps it is the Scott Walker phenomenon we are suffering with, turning a blue electoral vote state red is HUGE.

Sue's comment about the US Supreme Court's statement about Free Speech ... "it is the interest of the viewer and the listener which is paramount, not the broadcaster." ... completely incompatible with the idea that "He who has the gold makes the rules" that corporate America is really all about. -- This is WHY who sits on the Supreme Court is so important, just look at Wisconsin's shenanigans... Voters, get a grip!

And I like her complaints about Clear Channel, getting too big... "Every single station should be broken into and they should say “There's been a tornado sighted 16 miles northeast of Wausau”" - not so if on Satellite Radio or while watching ESPN on Satellite TV, but that's the corporate economies of scale "working for ya." (The Sarah Palin touch). It has been said that over 95% of households either subscribe to Cable / Satellite / U-Verse... meaning less than 5% are picking it up for free with home antennas and their ATSC tuner TVs or digital converter boxes. But who cares about voters too cheap to subscribe?

Imagine shutting down local TV and radio. Corporate Broadcasters want this, to eliminate the cost of distributing local information of any kind (weather, too), eliminate the interference of these local messages against national programming and paid advertising. No more Obama speeches on NFL opening night! Corporate America wants this, so they can sell all that bandwidth as paid subscription wireless networking! Once that is done, the powers that be will have the names and IP addresses of all the recipients of any anti-corporate programming, knowing who to "not employ".

Remember the talk years ago when AT&&T was trying to bring "Real Competition to Cable TV" when they brought in their U-Verse product? How many people realize that one of the caveats was to eliminate the state requirement to carry local cable access programming? AT&&T is also one of the players in the Net Neutrality game, where the internet can go the route of Clear Channel, where the big boys can buy up all the access, effectively blocking all access by the small dissenters and bloggers. Hence my opening paragraph comment about Free Speech being worthless if you have no "access" to SENDING on the media.

Let me say it again, when all our information is fed to us via Clear Channel and AT&&T, then we are no more free than the people in their pods in the Keanu Reeves movie "The Matrix". When a dissenter chooses the red pill, your material remains will be flushed and recycled.
