The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will hold its 26th year of “going vertical” to defeat cystic fibrosis on Thursday, November 12th. During Climbing for a Cure approximately 500 people meet at the US Bank Building, the tallest building in Milwaukee, to race up 47 floors (94 flights or 985 steps).
Once participants reach the top, they will enjoy amazing panoramic views of downtown Milwaukee before making their way to the post-climb celebration complete with food, drinks, entertainment and awards.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Simply put, cystic fibrosis is the result of a defective gene that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. It also obstructs the pancreas, preventing enzymes from reaching the intestines to help break down and digest food. Currently, there is no cure, but there is hope.
Since the discovery of the CF gene in 1989, research has accelerated at a rapid pace. The Foundation is actively supporting approximately 30 potential new treatments currently in development - that’s more than in the entire history of this disease. By investing in the CF Foundation, you are helping to fund the research that will, one day, make a tremendous difference in the lives of those with CF.
