Pre-emptively skirting an insufferable future where people call her Hannah Montana for the rest of her adult life, teen singer/achy-breaky offspring Miley Cyrus has wisely begun to rebrand herself as a name in her own right, so on this latest tour she’ll be performing as herself in addition to her popular Disney character, a regular teen girl with a secret life as a pop superstar. Tickets for this afternoon’s show are long sold out, obviously, except for members of the Miley Cyrus Fan Club, who are totally guaranteed seats.

It was because of your top ten list posted here that I saw "Offside," and I am definitely in agreement with you that it is one of the year's best films. Panahi's gentle satire succeeds as both social commentary and sports movie, and is valuable (particularly to American moviegoers) in how it distinguishes between a nation's peoples and a nation's leaders, perhaps done most effectively in the early scenes outside the stadium in which the girls and the soldiers are collectively depicted as prisoners, barred (literally) from the match. I am also fully in agreement with you on "Zodiac," which, for me, participates in the tradition of and updates Fritz Lang's "M." If "M" was a modernist response to the serial killer through cinema, then "Zodiac" is certainly a postmodernist one. Thanks for the recommendation, and now I'll be looking for "Woman on the Beach" on DVD.
