The UWM Union Theatre kicks off its African American Film Festival this weekend with two powerful documentaries. The Healing Passage: Voices from the Water, at 7 p.m., examines the aftermath of the slave trade, while Leimert Park: The Story of a Village in South Central LA details an unlikely artistic movement that emerged in the aftermath of the destructive 1992 Los Angeles riots.
