One of Milwaukee's most popular comedians, Chris Barnes headlines three shows tonight at the Comedy Café, at 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Barnes delivers his jokes in a low-key, “a funny thing happened to me,” sort of way, but he can also become a ball of energy and contort his face wildly when the joke demands it. He splits the bill with peers Mike Preston and Erik Allen.

Just wanted to find some forum to tell Chris Barnes that it is not really funny when he implies he has to protect his children from being raped by a gay guy who works at the pirate ship. Just so you know, of all the gay stereotypes that get thrown around in our culture, the one about how gay people prey on children is the one not even close to true. Most abusers are straight.
And since people have been using arguments similar to "we must protect the children" when they changed 30 state constitutions to specifically ban gay marraige, an act that needed to be done because bans on SSM are being found to violate equal protection clauses of the Constitution. Clauses, I might add, were instrumental in getting the injustices of how society treated black people turned around. Instead for gay people, we see that it is not only okay to violate equal protection, but it is demanded.
I know that comedians get to push boundaries. But this one really should be out of bounds. Perpetuating the stereotype that gay people rape children is grossly irresponsible. It would be a little like perpetuating the stereo type that black men want to rape white women. It really is irresponsible validating that attitude that people have.
