The UWM Union Theatre tonight screens one of director Akira Kurosawa’s masterpieces, 1958’s The Hidden Fortress, an epic about a Princess who fights through enemy territory with a handful of unlikely allies to return to her war-torn kingdom. If the story and its structure seem mighty familiar to western audiences, that’s because George Lucas borrowed from the film heavily for his first Star Wars movie.
