French playwright Marc Camoletti’s Tony Award-winning play Boeing-Boeing was his first international success and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most-performed French play throughout the world. Now this farce masterpiece, translated by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans, comes to Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. Bernard is living the high life in Paris with his fiancée—or rather, all three of them. His version of paradise is being engaged to three airline hostesses who will never arrive on the same day because they fly different airlines. But when his fiancées start showing up at the apartment ahead of schedule, hilarity ensues.
South Milwaukee native Michael Cotey, director of MCT’s Boeing-Boeing, says, “This is such a fun group of people to be in rehearsal with. I think the dream is to always be surrounded by good people. We are always finding something to laugh about even if it isn’t at all related to the show. Directing a farce is a real challenge, but it’s great knowing you’ve got such a giving group of actors and designers in your corner.”
Boeing-Boeing runs Aug. 13-30 at Broadway Theatre Center’s Cabot Theatre, 158 N. Broadway. A VIP Party will follow the opening-night performance on Friday, Aug. 14; a free pre-show presentation hosted by airline pilot Wade Kearns will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m.; and free pre-show talks with MCT Producing Artistic Director C. Michael Wright and Cotey will take place at noon before the matinees on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Wednesday, Aug. 26.
