Wrongly convicted of fraud and given 30 days to get his affairs in order, hedge-fund millionaire James King (Will Ferrell) offers a small fortune to Darnell (Kevin Hart) in exchange for training King to survive his upcoming San Quentin stint. Darnell, a hardworking small-business owner, goes along with King’s assumption that because he’s black, he’s served hard time. Along with emulating thuggish behavior and learning to wear baggy pants hanging halfway down his hiney, Darnell insists King learn how to pleasure a man, and that King hire a local black gang to protect King once he’s behind bars. Squandering the chemistry between Hart and Ferrell, this extremely lowbrow comedy takes potshots at ethnic stereotypes, but Get Hard hardly scores the laughs.
