Summerfest is cutting it close this year. The festival begins in just two months, but as of this week the event has still yet to announce two Marcus Amphitheater headliners. Today they cut that to-do list down to just one: Carrie Underwood will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Thursday, July 2, the festival revealed today.
One of the most successful “American Idol” graduates, and the type of genuine star that Fox’s fading hit is unlikely to sire ever again, Carrie Underwood established herself as one of country music’s biggest acts with her 2005 debut Some Hearts, and its hits “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take The Wheel.” The show marks a return to the stage for Underwood after giving birth to a son this winter. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 29 at the box office and through Ticketmaster.
There's still no word on ticket price information,or, for that matter, on when Summerfest will announce a headliner for its final empty Marcus Amphitheater date on Saturday, July 4.
