Freestyle motocross may not be the most established off all sports, nor the most sophisticated, but the typical freestyle motocross event packs at least as many thrills as the average NASCAR race or monster truck rally. Daredevil motorcyclists compete for points by attempting dangerous stunts and jumps of up to 70-feetthe very best competitors can even throw in a back flip or two. Expect plenty of dropped jaws tonight when the 2008 Freestyle Motocross Tour comes to the Bradley Center for a 7:30 p.m. event, especially from the little ones.

I must disagree with both the writer of this article and the commenters. I think perhaps none of you are artists yourselves? It is important to recognize a very fundamental truth. When people get together to talk and think about ideas, whether it is about their personal work, or really more frequently about Ideas in the world right now, or the work of other people, ranging throughout history. An intevitable byproducts of these conversation is NEW IDEAS..... through actual sharing! and conversation! Its quite beautiful! Just because you guys don't understand what they're talking about doesn't mean the artists are pretentious!

An artist should never feel like they need to expl...

An artist should never feel like they need to explain their work. This is not possible. What they can do is give insight into their thought processes by revealing who they are and what they think in another language. The talk should compliment the work. It is important for every artist to learn to speak about their work and treat it with respect.

The only time an artist should try to explain their work is when asked...by an individual, a real person. Not some art critic or someone interviewing the artist. Most of my work I wasn't expressing much more than the need to get a picture out of my head and into the public domian anyway!

Contrary to popular belief art critics and interviewers ARE real people! But I do believe being forced to explain one's work can not only be incredibly hard but also sometimes takes away some of it's magic.
