So there’s this tenth anniversary party. Guests arrive and the husband has shot himself in the head and the wife is nowhere to be found. It’s called Rumors. It’s a farce by Neil Simon. It’s also a lot of fun. Evidently Simon wanted to write something light. He’d never done a straight-ahead farce before. It turns out that he’s pretty good at writing a straight ahead farce.
The venerable Bay Players--one of the areas’ longest-running community theatre groups is staging a production of that farce that opens late this coming September. They’re going to be casting for that production next month.
The auditions for Rumors take place Aug. 10 and 11. The open auditions start at 7 p.m. at Whitefish Bay High School Auditorium on 1200 E. Fairmount Ave. in Whitefish Bay. Performances run from Sep. 25-Oct. 3. Auditions consist of readings from the script. They’re looking for five men and five women between the ages of 25 and 70.
