This weekend the Shepherd Express kicks off season three of our family friendly Street Eats Mobile Food Festival at Catalano Square Friday, May 15.
This popular Third Ward event features 20 food trucks, including new vendors Burgermeister (Angus, portabella, mahi-mahi, black bean burgers), Buddha’s BBQ (ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, hot dogs), Jamaican Kitchen & Grill (jerk pork, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail stew) and Hattie’s Sliders and Dessert Truck (meatballs, pork tenderloin BLT, cupcakes, cheesecake lollipops).
“We’re the original truckies!” says Shepherd Street Eats Event Coordinator Heather Pechacek. “We’re always sure to bring the best-quality food from great trucks and this year we have a fantastic mix of everyone’s favorites alongside new vendors to try and love.”
In addition to savory and sweet delights, about 10 other local businesses—including Clear Water Outdoor and Dave & Busters—will spice up the evening with awesome merch for sale, swag to keep and prizes to win. And there’s nothing more Milwaukee than enjoying great food with ice-cold beer from Lakefront Brewery (snug in a bright keepsake koozie) to the musical musings of the J. Ryan Trio.
Street Eats runs Friday, May 15, 4-8 p.m. at Catalano Square (corner of E. Erie and E. Menomonee Streets). Upcoming Street Eats Festivals will be held Aug. 1 concurrently with NEWaukee’s Urban Island Beach Party at Lakeshore State Park and Sept. 11 at Catalano Square. Tickets will be sold on location. The Shepherd has also teamed up with The Backyard (2155 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) to bring you Street Eats Wars, where three food trucks go head to head every Thursday night June 4-Aug. 27 to compete for the title of Best Street Food in the City. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at shepherdexpress.com/streeteats.
