Last year Milwaukee's Animals in Human Attire released one of the city's most imaginative indie-rock albums, Ourmegadawn, a whimsical folk-pop fantasy that captured the uncertainties of quarter life. And now, a year later, the band is taking a little break. Today the group announced they'll go on hiatus following a show Saturday, May 9 at Yield Bar, as band members dedicate themselves to other projects and other interests.
"We're not 100 percent sure how long the hiatus will last," says band leader Jack Tell. "I have plans to go on three solo tours this summer on my motorcycle and I'm going to be kicking that of June 2 at Bremen Cafe. Then I'm heading off to do a Daytrotter session right away."
The break won't preclude the group from releasing new material. Tell says he's banked some recordings with both Animals in Human Attire and his other band, Lousy Trouts. "I have plans to release those before the end of the summer," he says.
