Canadian native Ray Bonneville, a bluesman who has earned a pile of Canadian Juno awards, swings through town tonight for an 8 p.m. show at Shank Hall. Bonneville’s latest album, Goin’ By Feel, is as loose as its title suggests, imbued with a light, funky grove that guides this decidedly old school set of songs.

Although it's been a few years, I've always enjoye...

Although it's been a few years, I've always enjoyed meals at the Lakefront Palm Garden. However, if you expect the same quality at the second location at Hubbard Park Lodge, you may be disapointed. Five of us had dinner there a couple of months ago. We arrived right at 5 p.m., were seated and had our food within five minutes. I ordered the combination - cod, shrimp and perch which came with both fries and potato pancakes. The fries spilled out over the paper plate and fell on the floor when I tried to cut the fish. When I finally dug down to the pancake, it was not worth the effort. The cod was barely eatable. The perch was cold, hard as leather and the only way I could eat it was to pick it up. After a couple of bites however, there was no reason to continue eating what had no resemblance to perch. The shrimp was worse than anything from a frozen food section and the only way I knew it was shrimp was the presence of tails. Both the perch and shrimp were nothing but breading. The cod was a little better but those who ordered only cod it said it was probably about the worse they ever had. We asked if the food was made offsite, but were assured it was made at the Hubbard location. The fish fry has been mobbed apparrently each week so my guess is that they cook the food hours in advance and let it sit under a warming light. Arriving later and having it freshly made might be better. But, stick with the cod if you want to try the restaurant . This was probably the worst meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant. When we stood up to leave, we noticed that our upholstered chairs were crusted with dried on food. I bet they took over the place and furniture and never did any cleaning or updating. The waitress kept asking how we liked things and we finally told her it was "awful." She wanted to bring over the manager but at that point we just wanted to leave. It is too bad as the location is lovely.

Just need to correct... Mike Temple designed the sound system. I'm certain I said "Mike" and not "I." It's a cool system and credit should be given. THANKS EVERYONE EVERYONE EVERYONE! Yes, even you. Thanks.
