An urbane, Boston gay couple’s relationship is challenged in Stephen McCauley’s comic novel Insignificant Others. Office worker Richard finds himself having an affair with a married co-worker who hides his sexuality from his family, while Richard’s live-in partner Conrad is drawn deeper and deeper into an affair of his own. McCauley, who reads from the book tonight, colors the novel with social satire and commentary on the country’s economic crisis.
