“So Milwaukee Night,” May 29 from 6-10 p.m. at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, is devoted to celebrating things that are… well, so Milwaukee. The event runs in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition, “Private Spaces, Public Authority,” which displays architectural ornaments from the collection of the Milwaukee Housing Authority. “So Milwaukee Night” presents music by three local musicians—Gabriel Andrews, Neil Davis and Ugly Brothers—as well as a Milwaukee makers market, beer by the Milwaukee Brewing Co. and food from Brady Street’s Casablanca as well as Usinger's famous sausages prepared by Tall Guy and a Grill. Tickets are $15 ($10 for museums members) and include entrance to the soon-to-be-dismantled “Private Spaces, Public Authority,” which closes on June 7.
“The arts community in our region is as impressive and inspiring as you’ll find anywhere,” insists Ellen M. Gilligan, President and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The Foundation is putting its money where its mouth is by offering free admission to three cultural assets in the “WOW” counties (Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington) on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30.
The Cedarburg Art Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, with special programming to boot. On May 29, the museum will “Roll Out the Red Carpet for Senior Citizens” and on May 30 the museum issues a “Passport to Creativity,” featuring unique family-themed activities.
