This Saturday, Riverwest’s Cocoon Room will host the third installment of the annual queer punk festival Filth Fest, a fundraiser for the Milwaukee LGBT safe space Project Q that will feature workshops, educational speakers, leadership activities, vegan burritos and, of course, music—tons of it, with more than a dozen bands. There’s a good chance you haven’t heard of most of them, but that’s OK: Ahead of the event, which begins at noon and will end 12 hours later with a dance party, Milwaukee’s Permanent Scowl Records has compiled a compilation of those bands, which run the gamut from acoustic punk to twee punk to hardcore punk to pop punk. Basically, a lot of punk, and a lot of it quite good.
You can stream the compilation below. Admission to Filth Fest is just $7-$10 (on a sliding scale), so consider popping by to check a few of them out: It’s for a very, very worthwhile cause.
