1934’s The Thin Man proved so popular with moviegoers that it spawned five sequels. Consensus has it that the first was the best, a fast-paced comic mystery that introduced us to the upscale married couple that pounds martinis and effortlessly solve crimes, quipping all the while. In this case, the prime suspect is the couple’s good friend, whose ex-lover has turned up dead.

Perhaps Kohl realizes what Doyle did when he decided not to run. The good times are over, thanks to the failure to grant credit to the millions of consumers that kept wealth-hording capitalism going alongside the tax and spend wealth redistribution policies of a big government.
Nobody likes an economist. All they can do is study the past failures and tell your their theory of what the heck went wrong. Unless they bring a solution, a fix, a cure, nobody wants to listen. But, what if there is no solution that makes it work for everybody, all that can happen is that some part wins, and the other parts lose. That's Paul Ryan, that's Scott Walker, that's the Koch brothers.
You might like or you might hate the economic wonkishness of Paul Ryan, but we are into the end days of a pyramid scheme known as money creation from a fractional reserve banking system. Note that I said MONEY creation, not WEALTH creation. As long as money is being created and circulating in the economy, then wealth is able to be created.
Look at all the wealth created, the roads, motor vehicles, improved real estate properties, factories, shopping centers, all the gadgets we have in our homes. Doesn't matter that the ownership of much of those items is by the banks, the control of those bank-owned items is in the hands of the drivers, occupants, and holders of those items.
All that stuff was built by the GROWTH of consumer DEBT, even more so than the GROWTH of government debt. This growth was built on the promised return on an investment today. That's the money on paper part, the stuff of wealth is already out there, it's in us consumers' hands.
What happens when the investment can never be paid back? Lots of pissed off investors! Lots of pissed off shareholders. Those paper owners put the brakes on, stop the creation of the stuff of wealth. They demand an enforcement system to get that stuff back out of the users hands, back under the owners control. Will it be Martial Law? A strong Police state?
No wonder nobody really wants to play, except for the agents of the owners.
