One great thing about making large-scale artwork is that you rarely have trouble standing out while filling a space.
One not-so-great thing about making large-scale artwork is that you need a large-scale vehicle to move it when that show inevitably comes down...
Ya, we could have gotten a Uhaul...and that probably would have been about 10 times faster...
...but there was just something about walking down the street with two 6x6-ft paintings in 100% humidity on a Friday during rush hour that seemed like a good idea.
"Seemed like a good idea" would be the key phrase as Eric and I wistfully gaze into the distance...
We break for traffic and our health. The winter did not prepare us for this thing called "heat" and who knew those train bridges had such low clearance!
But lo-and-behold, despite the heat, humidity, traffic, honking, sweating, swearing, low bridges, fresh air, animals, trash, runners, an unending and insufferable parade of bars and patios of which we could not take part and a few massive gusts of wind, we eventually arrived at our destination....only to cram the pieces into a barely-large-enough elevator for the final four floors of the trip.
Fare-the-well Black Sheep MKE...Eric, the artwork, and I thank you for your space over the past few months...and your close proximity to the studio.
Check out the 2nd edition of the art blog which documented the making of the pieces featured above...
